About GCLFEDS
GCLFEDS focuses on providing family support and education, building a strong community of families with DS, and educating the community in hopes of providing a positive outlook for our children and adults with DS. As part of this, we work towards supporting families of individuals with DS from birth to old age and getting new parents the right resources early so that all babies get a good start.
Membership is open to individuals, families, friends and professionals interested in Down syndrome.
Our Programs

- Monthly speakers
- Annual day-long conference on Down syndrome topics
- Lending library
- Social events
- New parent mentoring & DVD
- Community outreach to medical professionals, including presentations, DVD and mailings
- Community outreach to schools and educators
- Teen and adult programs (coming)
- Electronic newsletter
- Community events to increase awareness and acceptance
- Educational workshops and seminars on topics related to Down syndrome
GCLFEDS supports families in Galveston, Brazoria, and Harris Counties.
